Newsticker is the built in RSS-reader and Atom aggregator that comes with Emacs. M-x newsticker-show-news. There are two display types, treeview (use multiple split buffers), and plainview (one buffer). Go with elfeed. I've used Newsticker for a bit time and it isn't up to date with modern times - feed parser will fail in weird ways and storage doesn't scale well in case you have large number of subscriptions.
